How To Cook Italian Sausage In The Oven With Water – A variation on an Italian classic: baked Italian sausages. This recipe features fresh ingredients baked in the oven, perfect for a delicious Sunday dinner. This free, dairy-free dinner comes together in about an hour and a half.

I’ve been making this baked Italian sausage recipe for years. That’s why I can do it with my eyes closed. This is one of my monthly recipes because not only is it easy to make, but my family loves it!

Over the years, I have found that it is best to let the soup cook over the vegetables. The juice from the sausages seeps into the vegetables, resulting in a very tasty and light dish. Since you have starch, vegetables, and protein all together, that’s what you should do. My husband and I are baking sausages on a bed of fresh spinach. The spinach will wilt as the hot Italian sausage and potatoes sit. I always add crusty Italian bread and a salad to this dinner.

A Guide To Cooking & Preparing Sausage

In a large baking dish, toss the grape tomatoes, potatoes, bell pepper, and red onion with a tablespoon of olive oil and the minced garlic. Add salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Mix well.

Place the sausages on top of the vegetables. Sprinkle sprigs of thyme all over the dish (if desired). Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 60 minutes.

Remove the foil from the baking dish, add the vegetables and bake for another 30 minutes until the sausage is golden brown. (*You may need to open the sausage to prevent it from burning.) Serve immediately.

Or until you insert a thermometer into the center and the internal temperature reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit. This recipe actually requires you to cook it twice as long because of all the vegetables in the pan.

Boiling or baking sausages are generally healthy cooking options. Both methods require a small amount of oil.

Our recommendation: Cook the sausages at 425° for 12-15 minutes, making sure to turn them for about 6-7 minutes. Ovens can vary so it is good to check the internal temperature of the sausage, making sure it reaches 160°.
