Kathryn Kuhlman Exposed
While Jamie’s ministry has reached around the world, his true love has always been the local church where he has served for nearly 25 years, Tabernacle Church in Melbourne, Florida. Jamie founded the Tabernacle Church at a time when he was searching for a deeper relationship with Christ – a search that quickly led to a fuller understanding of what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Not coincidentally, this was around the same time that his writing career began.) The church began as a small group of a few families and a few friends, but soon outgrew its original facilities. Within a few years, “The Tab,” as it was affectionately called, was filled on Sunday mornings and evenings as people traveled from all over the country to hear Jimmy and see what the Holy Spirit was doing. Sleep was done on the beach. City of Melbourne.
For Jamie, church was all about relationships. His teaching struck a balance between bringing the word of God to new believers and feeding the flock that had already formed the body of Christ. He had a special gift for turning stories about everyday situations into life-changing lessons about God’s love, mercy, and power.

Psalm 38 – David is with sin. Have you ever been there? Are you there now?In Israel, amid its political, economic, and religious tensions with Jews of all faiths, more than 4,000 people from around the world (mostly from the United States) traveled to Jerusalem this month for the first world charismatic. For familiarity. Conference on the Holy Spirit. A total of 35 nationalities were represented.
The conference helped revive the important tourism business in Israel, which was hit hard by the Yom Kippur War in October. For a while, Logos International of New Jersey, the conference’s sponsor, considered canceling it. But, Logo President Dan Malachuk told delegates on opening night, “God said to go ahead with our plans.” (Logo later announced another conference for 1975.)
The three-day gathering — part of the Logos fundraising tour package — focused on worship, praise and teaching, featuring a variety of speakers and other attendees. The meetings of the conference, organized systematically, were sometimes interspersed with prophecies and messages in tongues, followed by interpretations; There was clapping, dancing and “singing in the wind.” The meetings were held in the Congress Hall, the largest convention center in Jerusalem. The CCTV service in the rooms outside the main auditorium served to flood the crowd. Speakers such as popular author Corey Tenbaum, theologian Jay Rodman Williams and broadcaster Pete Robertson emphasized the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives today.

A healing service conducted by Catherine Coleman received extensive coverage in the Jerusalem press and was widely discussed on the streets of Jerusalem. Due to popular demand he held an additional service on the last night of the conference.
The interest generated by the conference (even an Orthodox Jewish newspaper decided to cover the story on the last day) was in stark contrast to the unease surrounding recent acts of terrorism in the city. Two weeks before the opening of the conference, several buildings owned by Christians were bombed, reportedly by members of the Jewish Defense League in apparent retaliation for missionary activity. (However, according to a Jewish Christian source, not a single group that was bombed had an evangelical explanation.) The Israeli government immediately offered to pay for the damage. Since the bombings and threats last year, the government has imposed tougher penalties and stepped up efforts to catch terrorists targeting Christians living in Jerusalem.
Some missionaries were concerned that with 4,000 evangelical and charismatic believers in the city, some would be overzealous in trying to witness to Jews – resulting in greater hardship on those living in Israel. But, a Southern Baptist missionary said, “We were glad to see it didn’t happen.”
The conference received some press coverage, but the competition was very interesting: Henry Kissinger got into trouble with government negotiators, and Golda Meir announced her resignation as prime minister after the national elections.

The crowd that turned out — Logos initially predicted just 3,000 attendees — was a boon to Israel’s strained economy. In the first two months of the year, the cost of living in Israel rose by 7 percent; In 1973, this increase was more than a third. Food prices almost doubled within a year. Meat was scarce, and many delegates to the conference, especially Americans, complained about the regular diet of poultry.
The delegates had more to complain about than the lack of meat. Making arrangements for more than 4,000 people was a huge problem for the travel agencies that handled this task – or, to the surprise of some, misused it. Belongings were lost or misplaced, and there were mixed accommodations (some who paid for single rooms, for example, were housed with two or three other people).
Apart from logistical complaints, the most common criticisms heard about the conference were that it lacked proper teaching from the Bible and that it placed too much emphasis on tongues and worship. Famous Pentecostal speaker David de Plessis (keynote speaker of the conference), “It seems that there is a childish period that Christians who are just filled with the Spirit are going through.”
He stressed that teaching the Bible should be a top priority. But unlike some other big names, du Plessis, who is from South Africa, said he got good guidance at the conference.
An Interview With Mary Forsythe
Interviews with various representatives reveal that the charismatic movement is growing worldwide. For example, in South Africa, the attitude of the largest Dutch Reformed denomination has completely changed towards neo-Pentecostalism, according to du Plessis (however, the two smaller Dutch Reformed institutions still maintain an anti-charismatic stance ). Also, the Anglican Church in South Africa has at least one charismatic bishop and several charismatic priests. And there is a growing participation of Catholics. All this happened in the last two years.
Even the missionaries in Israel are not affected by the new wave of the spirit. Southern Baptists, Scottish Presbyterians and Mennonite missionaries (they work mainly in Arab
