Best Green Exterior House Colors – Green is a classic and beautiful color choice for the exterior color of your home. But what color to choose? I tested at least 12 different Benjamin Moore greens in my search for the perfect paint color for my house’s exterior. Below you will find my 5 favorite colors, including the one I chose…

Rolling Hills’ Benjamin Moore is a favorite designer for a reason. This works just as well on older homes like the one above as it does on new builds. It has gray and brown undertones that allow it to change shape in different lights like a chameleon. For this reason, it is also popular for interior decoration. However, with a Light Reflectance Rating (LRV) of 23.41, this shade was too dark for my taste. I live in a climate with very hot, sunny summers and wanted a lighter color to reduce heat gain. Unfortunately, Rolling Hills was not for me.

Benjamin Moore Saybrook Sage is a stunning true sage green color. In the Victorian image above you can see how beautiful it looks on a cloudy day. Unfortunately, with an LRV of 44.91, this color simply doesn’t work in my sunny climate. It looks much lighter and almost gray in direct sunlight. I wanted a true green regardless of the brightness, so I continued my search. However, it would be a good choice for a home in the Pacific Northwest. The house above is located in foggy San Francisco.

Best Exterior Paint Colors For 2021

Benjamin Moore Passion Vine is a true olive and a true Craftsman green. Although it looks soft and beautiful in overcast light like the house above, I think it looks a little like a puking baby in direct light, especially when seen next to other greens. Also with an LRV of 21.53 it would be too dark for my house. But if you’re looking for a classic Craftsman color palette of olive green, dark cream, and rust red, this is a great option for you.

Benjamin Moore of Louisburg Green was a strong contender for me. It has a perfect LRV of 32.77: bright enough to prevent heat build-up, but dark enough to get bright light, like the house above. However, I felt the colors were too cool for my house, surrounded by warmer green foliage, including the towering pecan trees and ferns I have hanging on my porch. I needed a slightly warmer green that wouldn’t clash with all my greens.

Benjamin Moore Creekside Green ended up being my ideal shade. It’s in perfect lightness range with LRV 30.68 and has enough gray and brown undertones to withstand my warm foliage without blending or clashing.

Benjamin Moore says, “This richly saturated color is reminiscent of a walk along a quiet bed on a warm summer day. »

The Best Exterior Paint Colors In 2023: Choosing The Right Hue For Your Home

In some lights, Creekside Green appears as olive, in others as sage, and on cloudy days as a soft gray green. This is the perfect mood ring, chameleon shade, my favorite color type. I often stop and look at it, just to admire it. I love the way it turned out.
